Seeing as how our very own Apron Lady, Ellen Bennett, is half-Mexican, it's a big deal and we do it up big for Cinco De Mayo!! This year's celebrations included a kick ass taco takeover with Chef Alvin Cailan, also known as @eggslutalvin.
The triple threat of tacos featured ceviche, crispy pork belly and slow braised brisket borrowed from Ellen's Mexican background and Alvin's Phillippino heritage. Collaboration like this really are the best kind!
The donation-based event was part of the #FirstThursdays series taking place at #ChinatownAfterDark with the other restaurants in residence at the Far East Plaza including Chego, Endorffeine, Lao Tao Taiwanese Street Food, Ramen Champ, Pok Pok, Scoops and Lasa.
Music, community and good food. What more could you ask for?
