We maaaade it! And the tour is officially off!
We landed in Columbus yesterday and scooted our butts over to Hot Chicken Takeover at North Market where Ellen our apron lady and Jeni Britton Bauer (the amazing creator of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams) talked about how they met, entrepreneurship and doing and putting good things into the world. Nashville hot chicken was served - cold, because that's how Jeni loves it, as well as amazing slaw and succotash from Cara Mangini's Little Eater (just down the stairs in North Market.)
Day Two we were up early and made our way to the "Cbus" breakfast fave - Fox in the Snow Cafe which was cozy and had the BEST cinnamon rolls we've ever laid eyes on. We made quick work of the egg sandwich, the ham & cheese croissant, the biscuit with jam, the apple tart and coffees and sped off to our next stop: Waterman Dairy Farm.
Part of Ohio State University's department of animal sciences, we met up with John and Becka who showed us the grounds and introduced us to a bunch of friendly, happy cows. They were grazing and came up to the gate expecting a grain snack. Ellen & Jeni frolicked around, paying no mind to the cow patties and even saw a baby calf just born. It was named "Jelli" in their honor (Jeni + Ellen!)
Piling into the car again, the whole team made it's way back to Jeni's Splendid Headquarters. A quick tour resulted in lots of oohing & ahhing. Did you know they have a pint wall? Look at all those flavors!!
Together, Jeni and Ellen did a Facebook Live session and made waffles which they glazed and ate with ice cream. Because why not?
Then, a quick pit stop to Igloo Letterpress to visit the local #apronsquad! Woohoo!!
Before long they were out the door again on their way to West Elm for a pop-up and a Makers Meet-up at the Jeni's shop in Clintonville for more aprons and ice cream and hugs for everybody!
Next up, Louisville! We're there for one quick day but I'm sure it'll be jam packed. Stay tuned, everybody!
