From May 16-18, 2017 some of the best chefs and culinary giants will hit the road in Santa Rosa, CA and ride 300 miles to raise funds and awareness in support of No Kid Hungry. Talk about serious hustling!?! In it's third year, Chefs Cycle continues to bring together every kind of chef, line cook, culinary industry member, doer, and go-getter with a goal to raise over $2M, "which translates into 20 million meals for kids facing hunger."
Ellen decided to join the three day "fundraising endurance event" last year so she strapped on her helmet and rode alongside some of most incredible and badass people in the business. Each day ended with campouts along the California coast complete with BBQs and chefs from every corner of the country together for a common cause. Pretty freaking awesome!!!
"From Carmel to Santa Barbara...and to be united for No Kid Hungry through so much heat, hills, campouts in parking lots and 1 million dollars raised, I literally couldn't be prouder or more honored to be part of this....because this is the epitome of teamwork. I knew that this experience was going to be amazing but I walked out being so grateful for all the people I met and/or already knew. Every day counts and every opportunity counts. We have life at our disposal, it’s just a matter of what we do with it."
If you aren't quite ready to ride 300 miles, don't worry you still can make a HUGE difference for this life-changing cause by donating here on Chefs Cycle's website.
"No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can make sure kids get the healthy food they need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength."
