Our founder, Ellen, grew up cooking with her abuelita who would always insist on wearing a smock, so she set out to create the perfect one for H&B — a timeless design that has been around for centuries, updated in a modern way.

Meet The Half Pinafore—Shorter and breezier than our classic Pinafore, it skips the chest bib and leans into a cinched waist, softly flared skirt, and ribbon-like ties that feel as good as they look. Roomy lap pockets keep tools close, while the silhouette flatters without trying too hard. Made from our soft-yet-durable 60/40 cotton-linen blend, it moves with you from morning prep to dinner-party cleanup. Finished with a dyed-to-match towel loop and our iconic ampersand, it’s practical, polished, and (if we do say ourselves) quite charming.
